JENIN, West Bank – Not less than twelve people, 11 Palestinian and an Israeli soldier, a Staff Sergeant called David Yehuda Yitzhak were killed in a gun battle in the raids in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank.
About 1000 soldiers were mobilised with heavy military equipment, including tanks, supported by jet fighters and drones in the invasion of the refugee settlement in Jenin.
The IDF which has withdrawn from the city left behind massive destruction and ruins that will take several months to rebuild.
Speaking shortly after withdrawal of the IDF from the occupied West Bank, Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyanhu described the operation as very successful without any civilian casualty, adding that the IDF succeeded in decimating the capacity of the Palestinian militants to make rockets that have in recent times reached settlements in Israel.
In a statement, the Israeli Ministry of Defence said the IDF: IDF, ISA, Israel Border Police forces confiscated over a thousand weapons in the Jenin Camp and the city of Jenin, among them explosive devices, ammunition, guns and explosives facilities.
It added that over 300 suspects were questioned by security forces, while 30 were apprehended. The statement noted that 14 wanted suspects’ hideouts and operational situation rooms used for terrorist activity were located and thwarted by security forces.
“Six (6) explosives manufacturing facilities were located and dismantled, in which over 300 explosives, explosives manufacturing materials, and additional weapons were located.
“ Three operational situation rooms used as terrorist infrastructure were thwarted. 10 explosive devices, 24 “8” rifles, M16 rifles, and hundreds of bullets for a diverse number of weapons were confiscated and neutralized. Hundreds of thousands of terror funds were confiscated. Dozens of kilograms of chemical materials for making explosives were confiscated.
“ Six underground shafts and two weapon pits identified with a terrorist organization containing large quantities of weapons were located. The weapons were located in hideouts, a mosque, pits concealed in civilian areas, operational situation rooms, and in vehicles.
