WASHINGTON, U.S – Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo is today heading to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in continuation of talks to press home their demand for open investigation into circumstances surrounding the disappearance of American based Saudi journalist, Mr. Jamal Kashioggi in Istanbul, Turkey.




Kashioggi, a vocal critic of the Saudi government had visited his consular office in Instanbul to perfect documents relating to his marriage. His wereabout has been unknown since he visited. There have been allegations that he was killed and dismembered but authorities in Saudi Arabia have denied it and that he exited the office through the back door.

But Turkish TV showed CCTV footage of the moment Mr Khashoggi walked into the consulate for an appointment at which he was due to receive papers for his forthcoming marriage to Turkish fiancée Hatice Cengiz.

A video has also emerged of men described as Saudi intelligence officers entering and leaving Turkey, while Turkish media say sources have identified a 15-strong team involved in Mr Khashoggi’s disappearance.

“At the request of President Trump, Secretary of State Pompeo will travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today. The President has called for a prompt and open investigation into the disappearance of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi”, Spokesman for department of state said in a statement.
