GAZA — Gaza Civil Defense officials reported on Tuesday that their teams recovered the bodies of nine people, including at least three women and two children, following two separate Israeli strikes in the southern and central Gaza Strip.
The incidents targeted a residential home and a civilian vehicle, according to the Civil Defense spokesperson.
The first incident, reported in the southern Gaza neighborhood of Sabrah, resulted in the recovery of four “martyrs”—three women and one man—from the wreckage of a house belonging to the Banna family.
The spokesperson stated that the home had been inhabited by civilians and was targeted by Israeli shelling.
Hours later, emergency responders recovered five additional bodies from a civilian vehicle that was reportedly bombed on Qassam Street in the southern city of Khan Younis.
The victims included two children and one woman, bringing the total reported fatalities from that strike to five.
The Civil Defense official, whose statement was provided by an operations source, also noted two injuries resulting from Israeli shelling on a tent housing displaced people west of the town of Zuwaydah, located in the central Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military has maintained that it strikes only militant targets and takes measures to avoid civilian casualties, frequently accusing Hamas and other groups of operating within and under residential structures, hospitals, and schools.
The reported recovery operations highlight the continued danger faced by non-combatants across the territory, where the vast majority of the population has been displaced by the ongoing conflict and where food, medical supplies, and shelter remain scarce.
Civilian casualties and infrastructure damage have complicated international efforts to deliver humanitarian aid. Independent confirmation of the exact circumstances of the strikes and the civilian status of the victims was not immediately possible.
