IRAN’S firebrand parliament speaker has issued a chilling “bring it on” threat to Donald Trump, warning that American bases and warships will be “destroyed” if the US dares to intervene in the country’s bloody civil unrest.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf—a former Revolutionary Guard commander known for his hardline stance—erupted in a fury yesterday, claiming his nation is “waiting” for a fight.
In a speech that sent shockwaves through the Middle East, Qalibaf thundered: “We are the nation of Imam Hussein. We are WAITING. We’re READY to face you.”
The defiant message comes as President Trump weighs up military “options” to stop the Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown on protesters, which has already left more than 500 people dead.
Addressing a chaotic session of parliament where lawmakers chanted “Death to America,” Qalibaf warned that any US move would trigger an all-out inferno.
”Come and see how ALL your resources in the region will be DESTROYED,” he goaded. “Come and see what will happen to American bases, American ships, and American forces.”
The speaker’s rhetoric marks a terrifying escalation in the game of brinkmanship between Washington and Tehran. He added that Iran would not wait to be hit first, suggesting “pre-emptive” strikes on US interests in the Gulf and Israel are now on the table.
The outburst was sparked by President Trump’s recent social media posts, in which he told the Iranian people they are “closer to freedom than ever before” and promised the USA “stands ready to help.”
Insiders say Trump has been briefed on “high-impact” strike options, including targets in Tehran, if the regime continues to use live ammunition against its own citizens.
A White House source said last night: “The President doesn’t take threats from the mullahs lightly. If they touch a single American ship, the response will be unlike anything they’ve ever seen.”
The current crisis is the most serious threat to the Islamic Republic’s 47-year rule.
Here is what you need to know:
The Protests: For 16 days, millions of Iranians have taken to the streets. What started as a row over the economy has turned into a revolution, with citizens calling for the end of the theocracy.
The Bloodshed: Human rights groups say at least 538 people have been killed by security forces. The regime has shut down the internet to hide the scale of the “massacre.”
Previous Conflict: Tensions were already at boiling point following a 12-day war in June 2025 between Iran and Israel, which saw Iran’s air defenses severely crippled.
The ‘Hussein’ Reference: By calling Iran the “nation of Imam Hussein,” Qalibaf is invoking a powerful Shia martyr. It is a signal to the West that the regime is prepared for a “suicidal” or “holy” war rather than surrender.
US Presence: The US has thousands of troops stationed across the Middle East, including the 5th Fleet in Bahrain and the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, both of which are now in Iran’s crosshairs.
