ANAMBRA, Nigeria – The sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has recorded total success across all the cities in Anambra state , including Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi and others .
The compliance , include those in Banking sectors , government offices and private business activities in the state . Virtually all shops , markets and hotels were shut down , under lock and key. Both public and private Secondary schools as well as Petrol and Gas filling stations, artisans were shut down in the state .
Report from the three major cities of the state , Awka, Onitsha and Nnewi showed that business activities were crippled. Report also had it that all roads leading into and out of Anambra , especially Onitsha, the bridge head, that links Asaba and Western States of Nigeria, Enugu-Anambra at Amasea border and those leading into and exit of Nnewi the industrial city of Anambra State were ghosts of themselves as residents stayed away in obedience to the Biafra groups order.

Also the ever-busy Onitsha Enugu expressway of the Onitsha end of the Niger Bridge leading to Awka, the Onitsha Owerri road expressway, leading to Owerri, the Nnewi Okigwe expressway, the Onitsha Asaba expressway from the Asaba end of the Niger Bridge were all ghost as no vehicular movement was seen.
However our reporter gathered that there were presence of joint security personnel, comprising of Army, Navy Civil Defence and Immigration at both ends of Niger Bridge Head and Oga junction by Atani road respectively, ensuring that there was no breakdown of laws and orders by criminal elements
At Awka, the state capital of Anambra, Banks were shut down for business even pos were no where to be found . A security man at Fidelity, Zenith and First banks, who spoke on the condition of anonymity said no person resumed to work on Monday in compliance of IPOB directive .
” No worker or customer came to knock at any of the gates today ” he said .
One of the residents who wanted to go out to withdraw money stayed back for the fear of uncertainty, Miss Agnes Ibe, said after tomorrow (Tuesday), she was going to withdraw all her monies in the bank, because the total compliance is a signal that one day the Biafra dream will come to a pass .
She does not want to lose her money to banks, saying that the currency will change to Biafra note. Although the movement of people were restricted as soldiers ensured that people who unavoidably needed to move round, like journalists, doctors, nurses, and people on essential duties were asked to properly identify themselves before they were allowed to move to their respective destinations.
