January 5, 2016 – Nigeria’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it is ready to conduct the supplementary election scheduled for Bayelsa State, on Saturday, January 9, 2016.

The election will hold in Southern Ijaw and 101 other polling units were elections failed to hold December 5 when INEC held the first exercise.

Deputy Director, Publicity, INEC, Mr. Nick Dasang made the revelation while speaking on Politics Today, a political programme on Radio Nigeria.

He said the major challenge in Southern Ijaw has to do with security adding that all relevant security agencies have assured of security of lives and property on Saturday when the elections will hold.

Last December when the election held at least five people were five killed in an orgy of violence.
Bayelsa State Governor, Mr. Henry Dickson has had issued warning on Monday about plans to rig and cause mayhem on Saturday.
