ABUJA, Nigeria – The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has given the go ahead for political parties to resume campaign. INEC gave the permission as political parties continue to agitate to resume campaign following postponement of the elections.
The Presidential and National Assembly election will now hold February 23 while the Governorship and house of assembly election will now hold March 9, 2019.
INEC said in a statement by INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye that it decided to give parties the go ahead after consultation but that campaign will now terminate on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 12 midnight.
INEC said media organisations are also allowed to accept and published political adverts until midnight on Thursday, Feb. 21.
