Indigenes of Kibaki Community, Chibok, Borno State who are resident in Lagos State on Monday protested against security operatives for not being swift enough in rescuing the over one hundred girls abducted from Federal Government College, Chibok by the dread Islamic Sect, Boko Haram.

About two hundred and thirty-four girls were abducted from the college a forth night ago from the school, while 14 of the girls escaped on the way.
The group who claimed to be members of Chibok Youth Association made a case for safe return of the remaining girls to their families.

They called on the Lagos State Governor to pass on their grievances to President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state.
Leader of the group, Mr. Yahaya Chiwar said the decision to take their grievances to the Lagos state Governor was because of his outstanding track record in the area of securing lives and property in Lagos.

He added that what was more alarming was that parents of the abducted girls took it upon themselves to comb the forest and discovered the camp where the insurgents were holding the girls, reported to appropriate authorities, but were dismayed when no action was taken.

While responding, Fashola commended the group for their courage and selflessness. He condemned abduction of the girls, stressing that it is a clear act of hostage-taking which is unthinkable and dehumanizing.

He however cautioned the protesters against promoting the thought that nothing was being done to rescue the abducted girls, saying that it is likely that the authorities might be careful not to take steps that would harm the girls in the process of trying to rescue them.
