OWERRI, Imo – Nigeria Opposition Coalition (CUPP) Spokesperson, Human Right Activist and Constitutional Lawyer, Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has raised alarm over plot to kidnap him and arraign him on trumped up charges.
Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, who raised the alarm on Twitter said he has confirmed the development, adding that the plan is to abduct him and Hon. Geff Ojinika and arraigned them before a magistrate court on trumped up charges.
He said the plot was hatched by the Imo State Government led by Hon. Hope Uzodinma to silence the opposition from exposing more shocking detains on those who compromised the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC’s voter register in Imo State, particularly, the governor’s ward, where over 40, 000 fake names were entered on the INEC register.
“I have confirmed that the Imo Police Anti kidnap Unit is planning to abduct me & Hon.Geff Ojinika & use trumped-up charges before a magistrate court to silence the Opposition from exposing more shocking details on those who compromised the voters Register @PoliceNG”, he said.
The human rights lawyer said Nigeria 2023 is in danger because of the decision of the Nigeria Police in Imo State to charge Innocent Imo, an INEC staff to court while covering those behind the fraudulent names.
He said police charged Innocent to cover up those who actually compromised the register.
“Nigeria 2023 is in danger because the Police decision to charge innocent Imo INEC staff to court while covering those behind the compromise of the voters register means the Police is covering the compromise which raises doubts on their capacity to Police 2023 elections”, he said.
According to Ikenga, instead of arresting the criminals who perpetrated the fraud, the police is charging the person who exposed the fraud.
“Are u aware that an INEC staff in Imo was abducted & charged to court by police in a bid to cover the criminal compromise of voters register? Is the IGP aware or part of it? instead of arresting the criminals, they are looking for the source of the fraud exposure”, he said earlier.
