LAGOS, Nigeria – Three major governors have lost out in their quest to become senators in their various states in the  senate and national assembly election held last Saturday.

The three governors are all serving out their terms in their various states and wanted to continue enjoying public largesse at the senate.

The governors are that of Benue State, Mr. Samuel Orthom, governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade and Enugu State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Uguanyi.

Professor Ben Ayade lost to Sen Jarigbe Agom -Jarigbe of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the national assembly election. Jarigbe polled 76, 145 votes to defeat Ayade who scored 56,595 votes.

Governor Samuel Orthom of Benue State lost to Titus Zam of the All Progressive Congress, APC. Zam scored 143, 151 votes to defeat Orthom who secured 106,882 votes. Candidate of fhe Labour Party scored only 51, 950 votes to come third.

Abia State Governor Gabriel Ikpeazu lost in the House of Representatives race to  Ginger Onwusibe of the Labour Party in the race to represent Isiala Ngwa Federal constituency. Onwusibe  polled 20, 411 votes  to beat Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of the PDP who scored 13, 508 votes.
