JERUSALEM – The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Friday that the newly agreed-upon ceasefire agreement has officially come into effect, commencing at 12:00 local time.
The military immediately began repositioning troops along updated deployment lines in preparation for the implementation of the deal, which includes the anticipated return of hostages.
In a statement released shortly after the effective hour, the IDF detailed its immediate actions, which included a large-scale logistics operation in the Southern Command overnight.
”Since 12:00, IDF troops began positioning themselves along the updated deployment lines in preparation for the ceasefire agreement and the return of hostages,” the military statement said.
While the ceasefire is active, the IDF emphasized that troops in the Southern Command remain deployed in the area and are tasked with continuing to “remove any immediate threat.”
The focus of the operation has been twofold: repositioning forces and ensuring full readiness.
The Technology and Logistics Directorate personnel oversaw the overnight logistics operation, moving troops to predesignated lines and positions.
Alongside the realignment of units, the military is providing comprehensive logistical, medical, and maintenance support to all forces.
Technology and maintenance crews are actively working to “restore the readiness of vehicles and technological systems,” as well as establishing the necessary infrastructure to reinforce and maintain the new defense line.
The military’s disciplined and rapid re-deployment signals its commitment to the ceasefire agreement while maintaining a robust defensive posture during the sensitive and critical process of the hostage return.
