LAGOS, Nigeria – Iconic Joke Silva, queen of the Nigerian film industry is 60. But as usual, she is not looking 60. She is lovely, ever gorgeous, stylish and full of smile.
But she is not only celebrating 60, she is celebrating 40+60, in the sense that she has clocked 40 years in the film industry.
So, for the queen, who speaks queens English, it is double celebration and she is marking it in a grand style. Her biography, with the title #40at60 is already in the works and would be presented to the public when it is completed.
Joke Silva, is a role model extraordinaire, decency personified, as this writer noted in one of his encounters with her almost a decade ago in her home. She is very cautious of her dressing and style and even pictures such that she does not send out wrong signals to the wrong quarters.
“Numbers are very important to me, so this year as I turn 60, I also mark forty years in the industry I love#40at60”, she said.
