January, 16, 2015 – Candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Lagos Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode has said he will make traffic gridlock a thing of the past in Apapa if he elected into office as governor.

Akinwunmi made the statement while addressing thousands of APC supporters in Lagos.

Ambode noted that the hectic traffic in the area was caused by the activities of the articulated vehicles loading fuel and containers from Apapa port, adding that the situation in Apapa is a pointer to the failure of the federal government.

Ambode who was joined at the campaign appealed to residents in Apapa to exercise patience that their situation will soon change for the better.

“We are tired of traffic in Apapa and that is why we must all vote for APC in the next general election. We vote for APC at both the state and federal level because that is how we can rescue ourself from bad governance at the center.

“It is only APC that can address Apapa problems. we know your problems and we are prepared to address all of them. If Buhari wins the presidential election, we have succeeded. He is the only one who has solutions to our problems.”

Also speaking, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola urged Lagosians to vote for Ambode, adding that he is his younger.

“One of the most important functions of government is provision of security. The country was handed over to Jonathan intact but now, they have taken away some part of the country from him.”

Fashola said Buhari is the best choice considering the security situation of the country, saying his track records and achievements in the past speak for him.

The governor also chided the People’s Democratic Party PDP, gubernatorial candidate, Jimi Agbaje for a statement credited to him that the south-south will collapse the nation’s economy if Jonathan loses in the incoming election.

He said: “Making such statement is wrong. And anyone who wish to lead or govern do not make such divisive statement. The reason Lagos is safe, was that we have. lived in peace coexistence and harmony despite our diversity. That showed that Agbaje is inexperience. And that was why I told you that do not experiment with Lagos. Ambode will not make such statement. We need leaders who build cohesion and not those who promote division.
