ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – A presidential aspirant on the platform of Accord party Dr. Solomon Uchenna Wining has stated that he is coming out to lead Nigeria in order to revamp the oil and gas sector, especially in the area of downstream, petroleum products and pricing.
Uchenna Wining in a statement by his Ag. Media Director Nze Nweke Nweke said if he emerges the president of Nigeria in 2023 he will crash the price of petroleum products.
According to him, aviation fuel has skyrocketed , the diesel pump price is out of reach of the ordinary citizen while the petrol is hovering around more than two hundred Naira.
“I will do all things to ensure that product are available. I will look at various variables such as building/maintenance of already existing refineries, reviewing our policies in the oil sector and having qualified personnel man in the oil and gas sector.
The basic problem of Nigeria in the area of petroleum distribution and pricing is our inability to build, solidified, and maintain our refineries. It is a shame that a nation like ours with three refineries, none is functioning and we cannot even refine in our country . My government will get this corrected ” he said .
He assured of strengthening the laws and other thing that would make the country effective and functional.
According to him, a country depending on imported fuel to meet the need of over 200 millions people is certainly not good for us. He said there is a need to create jobs by building robust modular refineries in the country , noting that Nigeria needs to liberalize the sector.
” As an oil producer, it is good to be a member of OPEC, the access it to gives us leverage. it gives the country in the area of global oil politics is what we can’t jettison. I will deal with the OPEC and make our participation known” he said.
However , some political analyse have described Dr. Solomon Uchenna Wining as the face of the youths with the capacity to move the nation forward.
