BAVARIA, Augsburg – Augsburg will use the option to buy clause in Mergim Berisha’s contract, managing director Stefan Reuter told the Augsburger Allgemeinen newspaper on Saturday.

Augsburg will use the option to buy clause in Mergim Berisha’s contract, managing director Stefan Reuter told the Augsburger Allgemeinen newspaper on Saturday.

Reuter said the club is yet to do so, but will make a move “in due time.” Augsburg are reportedly to pay €4 million for the striker, who joined them last August on loan from Fenerbahce.

With eight goals, Berisha is Augsburg’s top scorer this season. During the international break this week, he made his debut for Germany against Peru and Belgium.

His positive development can get the attention of other clubs, Reuter said.

“It’s like always with us: If something extraordinary comes along and the player wants to take the next step, we will deal with it,” he said.
