LAGBUS ticketer, Oladele Oluwatobi being recuperated at the weekend

November 3, 2014 – A driver working for the Lagos State Government Bus(LAGBUS) is now having cause to thank his God when he survived an attack from an angry Panel Beater who broke his nose beating him into pulp.

His assailants, a Panel Beater, Sarafa Rasak, 26, resident at 38 Akosile Street, Gaskiya allegedly beat up Oladele Oluwatobi, a sales representatives and ticketer, attached to the LAGBUS Asset Management Limited after a little squabble.

The affected worker was later rushed to the Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre at the old tollgate for treatment. He is said to be responding to treatment.

Meanwhile Rasak is now cooling his head in a police station pending when he will be charged to court.

Head of Training, LAGBUS, Mr. Babatunde Shoderu told reporters that he moved to the scene as soon as he was contacted.

“By the time I got there and entered the bus, I saw that passengers were holding the panel beater tightly and were saying that he should not be allowed to go. He was the assailant. The ticketer was beaten to a state of unconsciousness. I had to resuscitate him and decided to take him to the Accident and Emergency Unit for treatment,” he explained.

Shoderu said the Panel Beater would be taken to the police station for prosecution, lamenting that there had been several cases of assault against LAGBUS captains and ticketers by members of the public.

Meanwhile, the attacker has denied beating the ticketer, stressing that the ticketer missed his step and fell down unconscious.

He explained that Oluwatobi boarded LAGBUS at Ijora and intended to alight at Anthony, but that the bus captain refused to stop claiming that buses do not always stop at Anthony.

“The ticketer informed me that they don’t normally stop at Anthony. He got up to attack me and slipped on the stair and broke his nose,” he narrated.

But Shoderu countered his claims, saying he was only lying and vowed that Oluwatobi would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
