EBUTE META, Lagos – Miss Stella Akogu, a 32-years-old house help has been arraigned before a magistrate court sitting at Ebute Metta, Lagos for alleged theft of diamond rings and valuable stones, properties of Chief and Mrs Michael Madueme worth $11,200 US dollars and thereafter sent a voice note to cause confusion in their family.
The defendant, we gathered sent a voice note to the couple that their 3-years-old boy is not their biological son and Mrs Michael Madueme is not the wife of Hon Michael Madueme.
Akogu is charged with 3-counts bordering on stealing, breach of peace, offences punishable under Section 287(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The charges read in part, “That you Stella Sandra Akogu ‘f’ sometime in the month June 2022 around 2:30 pm at Victoria Island area of the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal Diamond Ring set on amethyst stone valued $1,200.00 US Dollar, Diamond Ring set on citrine Stone valued $1,850.00 US Dollars, Diamond Stud earring valued $1,200.00 US Dollar, Diamond pendant necklace valued $2,800 US Dollar, big rose gold double loop earring valued $1,000 US Dollar, two-tone gold bangle valued $2,400 US Dollar, round gold stud earring valued $750.00 US Dollar, four pieces of man boxer valued N40,000, A pair of small boy shoe valued N25,000, one small Zenith Bank jotter and one other jotter respectively the total value of items stole is $11,200 US Dollar and N65,000 respectively properties of one Hon. Chief and Mrs Michael Madueme.”
“That you Stella Sandra Akogu ‘f’ on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by sending a voice note through your phone number 07013917229 by telling Hon. Chief Michael Osita Madueme and his wife Angela Nicol-Farodoye that their son about 3 years old is not their biological son and the woman is not Hon. Chief Michael Osita wife.
“That you Stella Sandra Akogu ‘f’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did threatening Hon. Chief Osita Michael Madueme and his wife Angela Nicol Farodoye by word of mouth by sending voice note to them through your phone number 07013917229.”
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges. However, Magistrate Ajayi granted the defendant bail of N500,000 with two sureties and further adjourned the matter until October 17, 2022.
