November 29, 2014 – Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has been acquitted of all corruption charges leveled against the former leader.

In a 280 page summary judgment today, Judge Mamoud Al-Rashidi also acquitted the former leader of killing youths who took to the streets to protest in 2011 revolution.

The judge said the charge of killing the youths was inadmissible on technical ground.The judge also ruled that it was not appropriate to take him to court in the first place.

Mubarak who ruled Egypt for 30 years was also cleared of allegations of gas flaring.

Mubarak was forced to step down after 18 days of protest and more than 800 killed.

Six of his former aids including interior minister were also acquitted and not found guilty of conspiracy to kill over 800 protesters in 2011.

However the judgment has attracted wide condemnation from analysts who describe the judgment as political. There was wild jubilation as soon as the judgment was delivered.
