October 23, 2015 – Members of the National Youth Service Corp(NYSC) serving in Ibeku High School, Umuahia North Abia State went through hell on Thursday when they were attacked with machetes by students suspected to be cultists.
The students invaded corps members in their lodge situated within the school armed with cutlass and locally made guns. The students numbering about 10 who scaled through the fence to access the lodge stole and vandalized properties belonging to the corp members.
When contacted during the operation, Principal of the school allegedly said he was in a meeting and therefore not available.
We gathered that some of the culprits who are currently cooling off in police cell confessed that they scaled the fence purposely to attack male corp members serving in the school.
The case has been transferred to the state criminal investigative department for further investigation.
