April 29, 2015 – Lovers of  entertainment are assured of full coverage of the much talked about COSON Week 2015, which promises to be a seven day entertainment extravaganza in Lagos from November 1 to 7.

Mr. Ayo Animashaun,  Chief Executive Officer of Smooth Promotions and  owners of leading entertainment television channel, HipTV, has declared that HipTV will partner with COSON for the forthcoming COSON Week to provide television viewers with unprecedented form of entertainment.

Animashaun made this known when a delegation from Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) led by the society’s Chairman, Chief Tony Okoroji visited the organization’s head office in Lagos during the week.

Speaking during the visit, Chief Okoroji commended the visionary leadership of Animashaun and his organization, Smooth Promotions whom he said has made substantial contributions to the development of the entertainment industry in Nigeria.

Said Okoroji, “This is my first time here but this is not my first time with Smooth Promotions. I have had a wonderful ride with you from HipHop World Magazine, Hiphop Awards which became the Headies, to HipTv and for me each of them has been a mark of the leadership of someone who is dedicated to his cause.

“I want to commend Mr. Ayo Animashaun and the young team that works with him at Smooth Promotions. I watch HipTV frequently and in terms of quality there is no difference between HipTV and other international channels. In terms of details, you have more. You back up the things you show with history and research which is different from what everyone else is doing. I would like to ask all the brands in Nigeria to support HipTV. If your target audience is the young people of Nigeria, you ought to be on HipTV”

Continuing, Okoroji said, “COSON was established to put value to the intellectual property rights of Nigerian artistes and others who invest in the music industry so that father or mother will  never see a child doing music as a drop out. Five years ago, I was told that no one will ever pay for the broadcast of music in Nigeria but that has changed.

In five years, we have collected and distributed several hundreds of millions of Naira, so that those who make music can begin to get value for the music they make. I was told that we will never have an agreement with the broadcast stations but today we have an agreement with every broadcast station in Nigeria including HipTV and we are happy about that. I was also told the hotels will never pay for the use of music in Nigeria but we have an agreement with the hotel industry in Nigeria. We were able to get here because of a leadership that does not contemplate failure and is committed to complete transparency and accountability”

Animashaun was full of praise for the COSON Chairman and his team and expressed his pleasure at the visit.

“I feel very honoured that you found time to come here. I will like to say congratulations and well done for the landmark achievements COSON has recorded in just five years.

“I am of the school of thought that we need to do the right thing to support the industry and that there is no reason to cut corners. COSON is every body’s friend and you are doing the right thing. I want to say that we will like to be part of the COSON Week in a big way. We will like to deploy all our resources to support this and we will be part of all the activities building up to the main events. We look forward to more and better partnership with COSON,” he said.
