DONALD TRUMP’S dream of turning the world’s biggest island into the 51st State is back on ice—and this time, it’s official.
Firebrand Florida lawmaker Randy Fine has stunned the diplomatic world by introducing the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act, a bold blueprint to plant the Stars and Stripes permanently on the Arctic giant.
The audacious bill gives the President the green light to take “whatever steps necessary” to snatch or buy the territory from Denmark.
From Tundra to Territory
If Fine gets his way, the frozen wilderness—currently a self-governing part of the Kingdom of Denmark—would first become a U.S. territory before being fast-tracked to full statehood.
The move has reignited a firestorm that first began during Trump’s first term, when his interest in purchasing the island was laughed off by Danish leaders as “absurd.
But Fine isn’t joking. Insiders say the bill is designed to secure America’s “northern flank,” giving the U.S. massive leverage over Arctic shipping routes and a treasure trove of untapped mineral wealth.
Why Greenland? The Background
This isn’t just about more snow for the U.S. map. Greenland’s strategic importance has skyrocketed as polar ice melts and global powers scramble for control of the north.
Military Might: The U.S. already operates Thule Air Base (now Pituffik Space Base) in Greenland, a vital link in its missile defense shield.
The China Factor: Washington is desperate to stop Beijing from buying up Greenland’s ports and rare-earth mines.
Mineral Goldmine: The island is believed to sit on massive reserves of zinc, iron, and uranium.
Despite the American appetite for the island, the Danes have historically been less than impressed. In 2019, when Trump first floated the idea, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen snapped: “Greenland is not for sale. Greenland is not Danish.
Greenland belongs to Greenland.”
Whether Fine’s bill is a masterstroke of MAGA diplomacy or a cold-storage fantasy remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure—the “Real Estate President” has just been handed the ultimate listing.
