MAKURDI, Nigeria – Benue State Governor, Mr. Samuel Ortom has formerly resigned from the All Progressive Congress(APC) and joined the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
Speaking on the development, the governor said contrary to insinuations, he has support of lawmakers, adding that at least 10 of the 17 members of the State House of Assembly will leave with him to the PDP.
“Breaking News: Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has finally dumped the failed and dysfunctional @APCNigeria and has returned to the reformed & re-positioned @OfficialPDPNig. We welcome him back to our Party as we await the return/defection of others. PDP! Power to the People”, PDP said on the social media.
In a statement welcoming Ortom, PDP called on others still in the APC to return.
“PDP Welcomes Ortom, Urges Others to Return ‘Home’: We warmly welcome Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State back to our great Party, the @OfficialPDPNig. We also call on others still in the failed and dysfunctional @APCNigeria to return back ‘home’ in order to salvage our nation”, the party said.
The PDP said that President @MBuhari’s led-administration and the @APCNigeria do not have the welfare of Nigerians at heart, hence they have continually offered flimsy excuses over the mindless killings and economic squalor in the country.
“The return of Governor Ortom to the PDP confirms the fact that President @MBuhari’s led-administration and the @APCNigeria do not have the welfare of Nigerians at heart, as they have continually offer flimsy excuses over the mindless killings and economic squalor in the country”, PDP said.
