ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – A political group known as, National Democratic Mandate Group (NDMG), has called on Nigerians to commence intensive search for a God fearing leader who will change the situation after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2023 .
The group made the call as a result of the economic challenges, Nigerians are currently going through. Speaking to journalists shortly after the inauguration of Anambra State Chapter of NDMG in Awka, the National Chairman of the group, Ambassador Isaac Chiagoziem Udeh, said the only solution to end social-economic, political and other agitations threatening the unity and development of the country, is for Nigerians irrespective of any affiliations, to rise up and commence an intensive search across the six geopolitical zone for a God fearing leader who is willing to change the narratives.
“NDMG is a political movement, with over 6 million members spread across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. We are not in support of any political zoning arrangement, but what we are doing as a political pressure group, is to mobilize our members at the grassroots, and ensure the victory of any political party or God fearing candidate we agree to work with in all elections in Nigeria.
We have no political zone and candidate at heart, but what we are canvassing for, is good governance in Nigeria.
“I think, what Nigerians want now is a leader who can keep godfatherism, Religion, Tribalism and Ethnic advises apart, and address the uncontrollable security, unemployment and other numerous economic challenges the country is currently facing, Udeh stressed.
So, our coming to Anambra State is to let Ndi-Anambra know that we have the strength to mobilize and come up with a credible candidate that will give them the desire dividends of democracy as the 2021 guber polls draw nearer” he said
While commending the state Governor, Willie Obiano, for availing them a conducive environment for a successful programme, he charged the newly inaugurated members to be good Ambassadors in the people of the state and Nigeria at large.
A governorship aspirant in the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election and a retired Director at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Reverend Dr. Godwin Okonkwo, who was honoured with NDMG excellent Award, called for a God fearing leader, stressing that allowing candidates from the South East zone to contest, political parties would engender peace, tranquility and development of the country. He used the opportunity to informed Anambra electorates that if he is voted as the next governor of the State in the next year governorship election, he would build an oil depot to ease Nnewi and Onitsha industrialists the stress of traveling to other states to purchase the product.
He promised to disclose the political party under which he will contest in no distant time. He advised the newly inaugurated members not to allow political jobbers hijacked what they have laboured for.
In his acceptance speech, the State Chairman of NDMG, Honourable Peter C. Okoye, on behalf of others, assured that the group will do everything electioneering possible to ensure that a credible and God fearing candidate would emerge victorious in the 2021 Anambra gubernatorial election.
Other members who were also inaugurated include; Deputy Chairman-Dr. Justice Izuorah, Hon. Ndidi Olieh-State Secretary, Chief Matthew Ezeh-State Treasurer, Ezenwaka Osmond-Organising Secretary, Barrister Ada Alozie-State Legal Adviser and Prince Azubuike Godsent- State Director Media and Communication, among others.
