GERMANY has slapped down a desperate plea from Donald Trump to help police the Strait of Hormuz, with Berlin’s top brass declaring: “This is not our war.”

In a stinging rebuke to the White House, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius ruled out sending a single German frigate to the Middle East flashpoint, despite mounting pressure from Washington to secure the vital oil route.

The German defiant “Nein” comes as tensions in the Gulf reach boiling point, with the U.S. Navy struggling to keep the shipping lanes open amidst a shadow war with Iran.

‘What Can We Do?’
Speaking in Berlin, a fired-up Pistorius didn’t hold back, mocking the idea that a few European ships could succeed where the world’s most powerful navy has hit a brick wall.

“What does Trump expect a handful of European frigates to do that the powerful US Navy cannot?” Pistorius asked.

In a final parting shot that will leave ears ringing in the Oval Office, he added: “This is not our war, we did not start it.”

Background: A Global Chokepoint
The Strait of Hormuz is the world’s most important “oil artery,” a narrow stretch of water between Oman and Iran through which a fifth of the world’s oil supply passes.

The Conflict: Tensions have soared following a series of drone strikes and tanker seizures linked to the ongoing military offensive involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran.

The Closure: Tehran has effectively choked off the passage to commercial shipping, causing global energy prices to skyrocket and threatening a “food deprivation” crisis due to blocked fertilizer shipments.

The Trump Demand: President Trump has called on NATO allies to “step up” and send warships to reopen the route, hinting that the future of the alliance depends on their cooperation.
The European Split

Germany isn’t the only one backing away from the fight. Greece and Italy have also signaled they have no appetite for a shooting war in the Gulf, preferring to stick to diplomatic channels.

While Britain remains under pressure to assist, Berlin’s blunt refusal marks a massive fracture in the Western front, leaving Trump to go it alone in the world’s most dangerous waters.
