GAZA, Palestine – The Islamic Resistant Movement in Gaza, Hamas says it has accepted terms of the proposal for a ceasefire put forward by Egypt and Qatari mediators.
In a statement, Hamas Leader, Mahmoud Mardawi said the resistance has left the door wide open to the possibility of achieving agreement but that the obstacle remains Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He said it can say for certain if Netanyahu will close the door again as he did previously.
“Today, the resistance opened the door wide to the possibility of achieving an agreement, but the bet remains that Netanyahu will not close it again as he did previously”, Mahmoud Mardawi said.
Details of the ceasefire agreement are still sketchy but a Palestinian leadership source told Al-Mayadeen that Hamas and Palestinian resistance factions agreed to the proposal of the Egyptian and Qatari mediators.
The proposal, Al-Mayadeen said stipulates a withdrawal of 1,000 meters deep in areas north and east of the Strip, with the exception of Shuja’iyya and Beit Lahia.
In exchange for 10 living captives, 140 Palestinian prisoners sentenced to life imprisonment and 60 sentenced to more than 15 years will be released.
The proposal stipulates amending the redeployment maps to the north and east.
Besides, aid will be sent to the Gaza Strip immediately upon the agreement’s entry into force, in intensive and coordinated quantities according to the January 19, 2025 agreement.
The aid expected will includes fuel, water, electricity, rehabilitation of hospitals and bakeries, and rubble removal equipment.
The United Nations, its agencies, the Red Crescent, and international organizations will be operating in Gaza and receiving and distributing aid.
The proposal stipulates opening the Rafah crossing in both directions according to the previous agreement.
For every “israeli” dead body, 10 Palestinian bodies are to be released.
The proposal stipulates the release of all children and women in Israeli prisons.
