KANO, Nigeria – The Kano State Government has detroned the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II. Director General, Media and Communications, Kano State, Salihu Yakasai, made the announcement through his twitter handle.
“The Kano State Executive Council has unanimously approved the dethronement of the Emir of Kano Mallam Muhammad Sanusi II at a special sitting held today by the council,” he tweeted.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has been at loggerhead with the Emir, based on his political utterances. Sanusi’s emirates was bulkanised by Ganduje in 2019.
