FREIBURG – Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken could be leaving for England after the season, according to the Bundesliga club’s board member for sport, Jochen Saier on Sunday.

“It could be that Mark will be leaving us, he is looking into it. For him it is about  the timing, when he can take another big step,” Saier said on Sport1 television.

Saier spoke of interest from England in the 29-year-old Dutchman Flekken who has been at Freiburg for five years and last year renewed his contract for an undisclosed period.

Flekken has played in 42 games for Freiburg this season in the Bundesliga, German Cup and Europa League.

Saier said they “would be prepared” for Flekken’s departure, with their German under-21 national team keeper Noah Atubolu probably getting a chance to play.
