April 26, 2015 – Four Nigerians were among the nine people that received a 72 hour notice of execution for drug peddling in Indonesia on Sunday.

They were then notified to make their last wish before the execution would be carried out, Spokesman for the Attorney General of  Indonesia, Mr. Tony Spontana said on Sunday.

The rest are two Australian men, a Filipino woman, and one man each from Brazil, France and Indonesia.

Indonesian authority said the nine have exhausted the legal options  open for them. But Frenchman Serge Atlaoui still has an outstanding legal complaint over the procedure followed in his request for clemency. The Supreme Court will rule on  his case on Monday.

The 72 hours notice will expire by Tuesday while the culprits are due for  execution at Besi prison on Nusakambangan Island  latest Wednesday.

Indonesia is going ahead with the execution despite wild condemnation from Australia, France and the Philippines.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called on President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to “urgently consider declaring a moratorium on capital punishment in Indonesia and work towards abolishing it.
