EINTRACHT FRANKFURT finally ended their 2026 hoodoo as they brushed aside a toothless Borussia Mönchengladbach with a clinical 3-0 display at the Deutsche Bank Park.
It was a Valentine’s Day massacre for the visitors as new boss Albert Riera celebrated his home debut in style, watching his young stars dismantle the Foals to record the club’s first win of the new year.
While three different names found the scoresheet, the architect of the afternoon was undoubtedly Jean-Mattéo Bahoya. The French sensation was a constant thorn in Gladbach’s side, racking up two sublime assists and leaving defenders chasing shadows all afternoon.
He was the heartbeat of every Frankfurt attack, proving exactly why he is one of the hottest properties in European football.
The hosts suffered an early scare when star striker Arnaud Kalimuendo was forced off with a shoulder injury after just 17 minutes.
But any fears of a goal drought were quickly erased. In the 24th minute, Nathaniel Brown ignited the party.
The 22-year-old left-back surged forward, traded a slick one-two with the rampant Bahoya, and kept his cool to slot the ball into the bottom corner.
Ten minutes later, the stadium was treated to a goal of the season contender. Making his first Bundesliga start, Ayoube Amaimouni-Echghouyab announced himself to the world.
Receiving the ball from—who else—Bahoya, the youngster cut inside from the right flank and unleashed a physics-defying curler. The ball zipped past a helpless Moritz Nicolas and into the far corner, sending the Frankfurt faithful into raptures.
Gladbach tried to rally after the break, with Haris Tabaković forcing a smart save from Kauã Santos, but the result was never in doubt.
Substitute Ansgar Knauff put the icing on the cake in the 75th minute. Showing lightning pace, he capitalised on a horror defensive error to round the keeper and roll the ball into an empty net.
