ONITSHA, Anambra, Nigeria – Five close aides of Chief Willie Obiano, Anambra State Governor have dumped All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with over 500 followers for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state
After dumping APGA, the decampees vowed to support the party’s governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo for victory in the forthcoming election. The APGA decampees led by the Anambra State Youth Leader, Comrade Eziokwu Magnus said that they left the party because of injustice and poor performance of the present administration .
The ceremony took place at the Delta State Government House in Asaba on Tuesday night. Comrade Eziokwu Magnus joined the PDP along with several serving members of the Governor Willie Obiano government.
They include Hon Abuchi Egboo, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) Environment; Barr Eziafa Charisma, a Special Assistant on Legal Matters; Emeka Nwabunwane, Deputy Chairman of Dunukofia and SSA on Community Liaison; Engr Ibik Kelvin, the SSA to the Governor on Works; Uzuegbunnam Chike, an APGA Zonal Youth Leader in Anambra Central; several special assistants, Councilors local government youth leaders.
During the ceremony, governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, and the Chairman of the PDP in Anambra State, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, Deputy Governorship Candidate, Mrs Azuka Enemo, and several PDP leaders expressed gratitude to the new converts.
Welcoming the defectors Mr Ozigbo commended their courage by standing for what is right for Anambra state. According to him, rejecting a failed government and party in time like this was outstanding and courageous. He said their actions further explained the prevalent sentiments of the majority of Anambra people to the present leadership in the state .
“Comrade Magnus and this powerful delegation, you are welcome to the PDP, and I can assure you that this is a sign of good things to come” Ozigbo added.
Ozigbo thanked the host, Governor Okowa for being on hands to welcome the new entrants, Chief Nwobu, in his address, expressed excitement at receiving the delegation into the PDP, noting that they would be fully integrated into the PDP structure and work together to achieve victory in November.
