​LAGOS — FirstBank of Nigeria Limited has reassured its customers and the general public of the safety and reliability of its mobile banking platform, FirstMobile, following circulating audio reports alleging a security compromise.

​In a statement issued on Tuesday, the financial institution described a viral WhatsApp voice message claiming the FirstMobile application had been breached as false, misleading, and entirely unfounded.

​”FirstMobile is secure and fully operational, supported by robust information security infrastructure,” the bank stated. “The bank continuously invests in world-class technology and cybersecurity protocols to ensure the highest standards of resilience, reliability, and protection across all our digital channels.”

​FirstBank assured account holders that their funds remain entirely safe and urged stakeholders to disregard the fraudulent message.

​”We urge our customers and stakeholders to refrain from sharing unverified information that may cause unnecessary panic. For accurate updates, please rely solely on FirstBank’s verified communication channels,” the statement added.
