LAGOS, Nigeria – As a result of challenges confronting courier services in Nigeria, Getittome Africa has launched a new mobile application, getittome, to assist Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, solve them and attract more investors. According to the firm, Getittome app was designed to serve as platform for customers and courier agencies, to transact business and monitor parcel movement till its arrive at preferred destination.

At the launch of the application in Lagos, Marketing Director, Getittome Africa, Mofolorunsho King, stressed that the challenges confronting courier services was responsible for the app development, saying, that is what we aimed to correct in Nigeria.

From our market survey, he noted, “we realised delivery challenges has made customers suffer losses. Sometimes customers find themselves at a location and their preferred courier service isn’t within range. But with the application, they can easily get another courier service operator within their jurisdiction, patronise and achieve their aim.”

He added that they could also monitor the movement of the parcel till the point of delivery. While describing the app as empowerment tool for MSME, the marketing manager said: “This is a state where people wake up and start thinking what they could do to bring food on their table. The application is meant to engineer the youths to get employed.

“We discovered that some youths have bike but all they do with it daily was to use it as means of transportation. But if they sign up to the app, they could generate money for themselves.”

King stated that to create employment opportunity, the firm has partnered Association of Lagos State Dispatch Operatives, ALSDO, to boost the sector. Relationship manager between dispatch operatives and the firm, Mr. Adetola Fajemisi, hinted that after testing the app, he discovered it would boost revenue for the over 100 operators in the state.

“Through the app, we could meet our clients. It would serve as middleman between the companies and end users. It allows all parties to track their parcel which was the insurance that wasn’t available before. But with the application we are good to go.”
