NEW LAWN, NAILSWORTH -Forest Green Rovers, FGR kept their National League promotion dreams flying high last night in a blistering six-goal showdown at their famous meat-free, vegan-friendly stadium, The New Lawn, beating ten-man Tamworth 4-2!

The Green Machine well and truly lambed their opponents, but not even the carbon-neutral stadium could cool the red-hot action on the pitch.

In a match that had more twists than a corkscrew, the action started early when Tamworth’s Jordan Cullinane-Liburd was given his marching orders after just five minutes for a last-man foul. You’d think that would be the end of it, but the ten brave Lambs only went and took the lead through a blistering Manny Duku strike!

Rovers, playing on the world’s first organic pitch, finally clicked into gear.

A penalty converted by Kyle McAllister and a quick-fire double from hitman Temi Babalola (one a clinical right-foot strike, the other a bullet header) made it 3-1 before the half was out. It seems FGR’s all-vegan menu is giving their strikers an extra kick!

The second half turned into a party atmosphere in Nailsworth as Nicolas Haughton smashed in a late stunner from outside the box to make it 4-1. While Joe Rye bagged a consolation goal for Tamworth with a late header, it wasn’t enough to spoil the atmosphere at the eco-warrior’s paradise.

The famous wooden-structure stadium—powered partially by solar panels—proved to be the perfect backdrop for this frantic fixture.

The New Lawn, also known as The Bolt New Lawn, is the envy of the football world for its commitment to the planet, and last night it was rocking with a roar that felt anything but quiet and “eco-friendly”!

Boss Robby Savage was beaming after the final whistle, watching his side climb up the table thanks to a dazzling display of attacking power right in the heart of Gloucestershire’s most futuristic football ground.
