FBI names Christie Curtis Special Agent Intelligence

WASHINGTON – Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, Mr.  Christopher Wray has named Christie M. Curtis as special agent in charge of the Intelligence and Surveillance Division of the New York Field Office.

Ms. Curtis most recently served as a supervisory inspector in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters in Washington,D.C.

Ms. Curtis joined the FBI as a special agent in 2004. Her first assignment was in the Garret Mountain Resident Agency—a satellite of the Newark Field Office in New Jersey—where she focused on investigating gangs and drug offenses. She transferred to Newark’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in 2008 and also worked on the Evidence Response Team.

In 2009, Ms. Curtis was promoted to supervisory special agent and transferred to the Counterterrorism Division at FBI Headquarters, where she managed terrorism investigations run out of several field offices. She also oversaw international investigations, with an emphasis on threats coming from the Horn of Africa. In 2010, she served as the acting assistant legal attaché to Nairobi, Kenya.

Ms. Curtis transferred to the Los Angeles Field Office in 2011 as the supervisory special agent for the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF). During her time on the JTTF, she managed several investigations that led to terrorism disruptions.

In 2013, Ms. Curtis was promoted to assistant inspector in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters. In 2014, she transferred to the Counterterrorism Division and was named the senior detailee to the National Security Agency, where she worked closely with other members of the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Ms. Curtis was selected in 2017 to serve as the assistant special agent in charge of the National Security and Intelligence Branch of the Louisville Field Office in Kentucky. She was promoted to supervisory inspector in the Inspection Division in 2020.

Ms. Curtis earned dual bachelor’s degrees in criminal justice and political science and a master’s in forensic science from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Prior to joining the FBI, Ms. Curtis worked for the Defense Security Service.
