June 8, 2014 – There was a drastic drop in sales figures for leading films at the box office compared to what was recorded in the last few weeks, but just too good when viewed against the budget for the most patronized movie at the big screen.

A Million Ways to Die in West rallied to the fifth position after grossing $7.189 million from 3,160 cinemas houses in the US to maintain that spot on the chart.
At number 4 is X-Men Days of the Future Past, put together by Fox Pictures. That film made $14.7 million after touring 3,639 film viewing centres in the US to make it into the top 4 on the chart. Just ahead in number 3 is Edge of Tomorrow, a new film just hitting the big screen. Put together by Werner Brothers, the film garnered $29.105 million from 3, 490 theatres in the US to hit number 3 on the chart.

Maleficent, which was number one, last week was pushed to the second position when sales tumbled to $33.523 million from 3, 948 viewing centres in the US to retain number 2 in box office sales. But the toast of film viewers at the box office at the weekend remains The Fault in Our Stars, put together by Fox Studios.

The film made $48.2 million after touring 3,017 cinemas in the US to remain the most patronized movie in box office sales. The Fault in Our Stars is a small budget film put together with just $12 million yet it returned $48.2 million in just one week at the big screen.
