Ayodele Fayose promises to use local artisans in Ekiti to avoid capital flight

October 27, 2014 – Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose today said he will restore education in Ekiti State to its lost glory. Fayose who spoke in Ekiti said his administration will complement good welfare package for teachers and students with provision of physical infrastructure and teaching materials in public schools.

Fayose who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Idowu Adelusi in Ado-Ekiti promised a great improvement in the performance of state students in public examinations.

“We have started on the journey to restore the lost glory of education by the meeting Mr. Governor held with heads of public primary and secondary schools last weekend. The teachers know that he is a man of his words and that he will take adequate care of them.

“We are not going to forget the students and the need for a conducive environment for teaching and learning. The administration will provide teaching aids and facilities to motivate the students.

“In Ekiti, education is the major industry and we will re-enact what we did between 2004 and 2006 when our state recorded a great leap in exams conducted by WAEC and NECO when we moved to fifth and sixth in the federation and number one in the South-West.

“Our state-owned tertiary institutions will be adequately funded and courses accredited by relevant bodies. We know that it is only sound education that can help in taking the son of a poor man to the top.

“The people of the state have seen the hypocrisy of those who claimed to be knowledgeable, but whose actions brought setback to education in the state,” he said.

Adelusi assured the people of the state that the Fayose administration would ensure that education is within their reach, adding that it would also empower the people by making them handle projects within their competence.

“Governor Fayose is not the type that will allow for capital flight from the state. He has no godfather that he will hand over the state’s treasury to. Local artisans will handle projects, there will be local content, by so doing, people in the state will be empowered financially and be able to afford basic things,” he added.
