LAGOS, Nigeria – Former Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife has said that the release of leader of the indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will lead to everything good for the country, and more especially a peaceful election in the South East.

The former governor who was speaking on Arise TV also addressed a letter purportedly addressed to Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami purportedly written by former governor of Imo State, Mr. Emeka Ihedioha.

Ihedioha has denied writing the letter, placed a disclaimer on it, attributing the letter to the governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma and his agents, whom he said are afraid of Nnamdi Kanu.

But in his reaction, Ezeife said the letter may not have been written by anybody in the Southeast, adding that the people of the South East are united and that the release of Kanu will engender peace in the region.

He said once he is released, the people of the Southeast will meet with the youths, whom he said are aggrieved as a result of the marginalization and the way they are treated as second grade citizens.

“If Kanu is released, the 2023 election will be the most peaceful. We will talk to our sons, once they see good reason they will accept it. I am sure you know what is happening,  how our people are marginased. You don’t beat somebody and ask why he is crying”, the former governor said.

He insisted that once Kanu is released  the elders will approached  the people and make sure that 2023 election is the most talked about for many years to come and that it will also lead to economic development and social stability.
