ARSENAL proved they are the real deal in Europe last night as two moments of pure English magic from Eberechi Eze and Declan Rice blew Bayer Leverkusen away.

Mikel Arteta’s North London giants marched into the Champions League quarter-finals with a clinical 2-0 win (3-1 on aggregate), leaving the German side wondering what hit them. On a night where the Emirates was rocking, it wasn’t just a victory—it was a statement.

After a cagey 1-1 draw in Germany last week, the pressure was on. But while the tension was high in the stands, Eberechi Eze was as cool as the North London air.

In the 36th minute, the Gunners’ No. 10 produced a moment that will be replayed for years. Receiving a slick pass from Leandro Trossard with his back to goal, Eze didn’t just turn; he pirouetted like a dancer before unleashing a thunderous right-footed rocket.

Leverkusen keeper Janis Blaswich—who had been playing out of his skin to deny Bukayo Saka and Trossard—could only watch as the ball whistled into the top corner. It was a “golazo” that left teammate William Saliba with his head in his hands in pure disbelief.

Leverkusen tried to claw their way back, with Christian Kofane looking lively, but they found a brick wall in the shape of Gabriel and William Saliba. And then came the knockout blow.

Just after the hour mark, a weak clearance fell to the feet of Declan Rice on the edge of the area. The England talisman didn’t hesitate. With one touch to set himself, he guided a precision-engineered finish low into the bottom-right corner.

”Boring, boring Arsenal!” mocked the home fans as the Gunners began to show-boat. Kai Havertz thought he’d added a third against his old club late on, but VAR intervened for a handball, sparing the Germans further blushes.

While Eze and Rice grabbed the headlines, Bukayo Saka was the engine room of everything good. The “Starboy” registered five key passes and four shots on target, terrorizing Alejandro Grimaldo all night. At the other end, David Raya earned his clean sheet with a stunning late reflex save to deny Kofane, ensuring there was no nervous finale.

Arsenal are now into the last eight for the third successive season and face Sporting CP next. On this form, few would bet against Arteta’s men going all the way to the final.
