Nigeria, June 8 , 2016 – Former coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Okeckukwu Keshi is dead.
He was 54. He died of heart attack. Although the Nigeria Football Association has confirmed the death, it is yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.
The former coach of the Super Eagles, who is seen as the best Nigerian defender ever was captain of the Super Eagles for many years.
He also managed Togo and Mali as coach. As a player, Keshi was part of the Super Eagles team that won the Nations Cup in 1994 and narrowly missed out on a World Cup quarter-final place the same year. Stephen Keshi was sacked in 2015 for looking for job when he has one with the NFF.
The death of Stephen Keshi came to many as a surprise. He was not sick before his untimely death.
He won many awards, among which is African coach of the year.
