June 3, 2015 – Former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Aderemi Ibirogba has distributed Ankara which some have alleged is worth nothing less than N500 as parting gift to staff who worked with him in the last four years.
Ibirogba was one of the commissioner that served the Babatunde Raji Fashola(BRF) regime. We gathered that he distributed the item in the last days of his departure from service.
Sources told StarconnectNews that the commissioner also gave a lump sum of N50,000 to be shared between six of his domestic staff including drivers as parting gift for serving him meritoriously in the last four years.
We gathered that the commissioner is seen as the worst to head the department since Lagos State was created in 1967. According to sources, the former commissioner seems to be averse to assisting his domestic staff.
“The commissioner did not part with money to staff and would even prefer to collect what you have”, one of our sources said, adding that most of the staff complained bitterly and called him several unprintable names during a valedictory session they held his behalf and that of the former Special Adviser on Information, Dr. Lateef Raji who is seen as a better person.
Another said the commissioner was not just stingy but was equally wicked, lacks interpersonal relationships with staff and does not wish anybody to succeed.
But another source said he is not that bad since he gave at least N25,000 to some reporters during their weeding and even appeared at the reception uninvited.
Some said that though he does not give out money, he is nevertheless playful and earned himself the title of ‘BE HAPPY ‘which has become a lexicon among civil servants and journalists in Alausa.
