LONDON, UK – Ukpo Uwamini David, the young man at the centre of attraction in the Deputy Senate’s President’s organ harvesting saga had his turn at Old Bailey, London, revealing how he landed in the United Kingdom.

The 21-year-old young man said he walked into Staines Police Station in May 2022, begging for help, after passing three nights in the streets of London.

He said he was moved to Royal Free Hospital where tests were conducted on him to determine the suitability of his kidney for Sonia, the daughter of Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, who is in need of organ transplant.

Old Bailey  was told that Ukpa Uwamini David ran away after doctors at the Royal Free Hospital said his kidney was not suitable for Sonia.

He also told the court that he was made to undergo some medical tests against his consent.

In a video played in Old Bailey to jurors, the victims looked very tired and appeared to be crying as he walked into Staines Police Station.

“I don’t know anywhere, I don’t know where I am. I have been sleeping three days outside around, looking for someone to help me, save my life.”

“He carried me to the hospital to remove my kidneys. The doctor said I was too young but the man said if ‘you do not do it here he would carry me back to Nigeria and do it there,’” the court was told.

He said that  he thought he was being brought to the UK to work but found out that the trip was for him to donate his kidney.

He told the court that he was shocked and felt like crying, adding “nobody told me about kidney transplant” and that he was paid about £2,000.

However, as he was running away,  his voice court heard, saying this  was his first time he is setting his feet in London, not knowing where he was.”

In the last hearing at the Westminster Magistrate, Deputy Senior District Judge, Justice Tam Ikram made it clear that the complainant, Ukpo Uwamini David was not a minor.
