We gathered that the EFCC invited Dickson based on a petition filed with the commission by a non-governmental organization that he abused public trust when he acquired the properties in question while he was governor. Dickson ruled Bayelsa between 2012 and 2020.

The former governor is alleged to have used the funds to acquire properties work about N17.5 billion in the United Kingdom. Dickson has however debunked the claim saying that the affected assets were acquired with loans before he became governor and they  had consistently declared the assets with the Code of Conduct Bureau(CCB).

He said the petition by a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) on diversion of funds totaling N17. 5billion is nothing but frivolous.
