Ebola Kills 3,330 as West Africa Records 7,157 Cases

October 2, 2014 – At least 3, 330 people have been killed by Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Africa since outbreak of the disease in the continent, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said.

According to WHO situation reports published October 1, the 7, 157 cases have been recorded in the three West African countries where the disease is still causing major havoc.

The statistics show that 1,157 cases have been recorded in Guinea, in the following ratio: 950 confirmed, 170 probable with 37 suspected cases while 710 people have died in that country.

In Liberia, 1,998 people have been killed by the disease out of 3, 396 cases so far recorded. However, 927 people have been confirmed, 1,656 probable while 1,113 are suspected cases.

In Sierra Leone, Ebola has killed 622 people out of the 2,304 cases recorded. There are 2,076 confirmed cases, 191 suspected while 37 are probable.
