DP World chief Bin Sulayem out after ‘trusted friend’ emails emerge
By Sun Reporter
The powerhouse CEO of global shipping giant DP World has resigned following the leak of explosive emails linking him to disgraced billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the man who turned Dubai into a global logistics titan, stepped down from his post yesterday as the shadow of the Epstein scandal reached the highest levels of Middle Eastern business.
The resignation follows a series of bombshell revelations in which Epstein reportedly described the DP World boss as “one of his most trusted friends.”
The correspondence, which surfaced as part of ongoing investigations into Epstein’s sprawling international network, suggests a much deeper connection than previously known.
While Bin Sulayem has not been accused of any criminal wrongdoing, the optics of being labeled a “trusted friend” by the convicted sex offender proved too toxic for the boardroom.
DP World, which operates major UK ports including London Gateway and Southampton, has been under pressure to clarify the nature of the relationship since the emails first came to light.
Bin Sulayem has been the face of Dubai’s economic rise for decades. Under his leadership, DP World became one of the largest terminal operators in the world.
However, sources say the company’s board felt his position was “untenable” as the Epstein association began to threaten international contracts and investor confidence.
”In the current climate, no amount of profit can outweigh the damage of an Epstein connection,” said one City analyst. “The ‘trusted friend’ tag was the final nail in the coffin.”
To understand the weight of this resignation, it is important to look at what Bin Sulayem is leaving behind:
Global Reach: DP World operates 82 marine and inland terminals across 40 countries.
UK Impact: The company is a critical part of Britain’s infrastructure, handling millions of tons of cargo that keep UK supermarket shelves full.
The Epstein Web: Bin Sulayem is the latest in a long line of high-profile figures—ranging from royalty to tech moguls—whose reputations have been scorched by their proximity to the late financier.
DP World has confirmed an interim leadership team will take over effective immediately to “ensure stability for global trade operations.”
