Bibi’s Ultimatum: 60 Days for Hamas to Disarm or Face Fresh War
By SCM REPORTER
ISRAEL has issued a chilling 60-day “disarm or die” ultimatum to Hamas, warning that the full might of the IDF will return to Gaza if every single weapon is not handed over.
In a major escalation of rhetoric, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s right-hand man, Yossi Fuchs, declared that the clock is ticking on a two-month window for the terror group to surrender its arsenal.
Speaking at a conference in Jerusalem, the Cabinet Secretary made it clear that “small arms” are no exception. Even the iconic AK-47 assault rifles used by Hamas gunmen must be surrendered.
”Hamas will have 60 days to disarm,” Fuchs told the Besheva Group. “We will evaluate it. If it works, great. If not, then the IDF will have to complete the mission.”
The hardline warning suggests that Israel is prepared to tear up current ceasefire arrangements and resume high-intensity combat if the strip is not completely demilitarized.
Fuchs revealed that the 60-day grace period was a specific request from the Trump administration in the US.
“We are respecting that,” he added, noting that the countdown could begin as early as this Thursday’s “Board of Peace” summit.
The move comes as Netanyahu tightens the screws on Gaza’s remaining militant pockets.
Just yesterday, the Israeli PM insisted that “disarmament” doesn’t just mean heavy rockets—it means every single rifle.
Insiders suggest the timing is no coincidence.
With Israeli elections looming as early as June, Netanyahu is under massive pressure to prove Hamas has been neutralised for good.
Fuchs gave a grim assessment of the current state of Gaza, saying “there is barely a building left standing” but warned the “work is not yet completed.”
If Hamas fails to comply with the 60-day deadline, the Middle East is braced for a “new, intensive military campaign” that could see Israeli tanks rolling back into the ruins of Gaza in force.
The Ceasefire: This ultimatum follows a fragile pause in fighting brokered in late 2025/early 2026, which saw the release of some hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
The Stick and the Stone: While humanitarian aid has been surging into the strip, Israel has kept the Rafah crossing largely throttled, using it as leverage to ensure Hamas complies with demilitarization demands.
US Involvement: The Trump administration’s “Board of Peace” framework is the driving force behind the 60-day window, attempting to create a permanent post-war reality without Hamas as a military power.
The Fuchs Factor: As Cabinet Secretary, Yossi Fuchs is considered Netanyahu’s most trusted legal and policy enforcer. His words are seen as a direct reflection of the Prime Minister’s “red lines.”
