October 12, 2014 – The film Gone Girl was not too impressive at the box office this weekend but with just $26.8 million it retained the top spot among the top five box office films, pushing Dracula into the second position.

Recall that Gone Girl was number 1 last week. Dracula Untold, whom many thought would lead the box office managed the second position with just $23. 457 million from 2,885 theatres were it was exhibited. Dracula Untold was put together by Universal Pictures.

Another new film, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible No Good, Very Bad Day put together by Buena Vista made it to the 3rd position after making $19.1 million from 3,088 film viewing centres where the film was exhibited.

Annabelle which is 4 weeks old at the box office is Number 4 with just $16.365 million grossed from 5,090 viewing centres in the US.

At number 5 is The Judge, another new film just hitting the box office. Put together by Werner Brothers, the film made $13.330 million in 3,003 theatres to make it to the fifth position on the chart.

Other new films that made it to the box office include Addicted, Meet the Mormons, Kill the Messenger, Whiplash, St. Vincent, One Chance, Christian Mingle and The Overnighters.
