ABIDJAN – Democratic Republic of Congo(Congo DR) on Friday evening sent Guinea out of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire, beating Guinea 3-1 to move into the semi finals.
Guinea opened the scoreline in the first half in the 20th minutes when M. Bayo converted a penalty kick to put his side ahead in the crucial encounter.
C Memba made it 1-1 for DR Congo seven minutes later putting the scoreline at 1-1 at half time.
DR Congo came into the second half more determined to carry the day. Their efforts paid off in the 65 minutes when Wissa converted a penalty kick to put his side in the lead, with scores at 2-1.
DR Congo came knocking again in the 82nd minutes when Masuaku consolidated their semi final ticket when he put the ball behind the net, putting the scoreline at 3-1.
The team held on to the scoreline until conclusion of the game.
