Says Ukrainians have more to lose if deployed

CAMBODIA – The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen has warned President Volodymyr Zelenskky not to use cluster bombs in the war that Russia is waging on Ukraine’s soil stressing that Ukrainians will be the greatest losers if cluster bombs were used.
He said on Twitter that his country, Cambodia has been struggling for more than half a century as a result of cluster bombs used on the country by the United States since the 1970s, calling on Zelenskky to have pity on his people.
“It’s been half a century. Then there were simply no means to clear them.
“Have pity on the Ukrainian people, I appeal to the United States as a supplier and Ukraine, as a recipient of such shells, not to use these ammunition in the war, because the real victims will be the Ukrainian people”, he said.
Recall that the decision of President Joe Biden of the United States to supply cluster bombs which is banned by more than 100 countries except the United States, Russia and Ukraine has drawn wide condemnation across the world even from members of NATO, all telling the US to shelve the idea.
“Spain does not share this decision … We are against sending cluster munitions … This is not a NATO decision,” said Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles.
But Biden seems determined to send the bombs in his desperation to win the war. He has sighted shortages of ammunition as one of the reasons he settled for cluster bombs.
Besides Zelenskky who is losing the war from all fronts with little or no success in his counter offensive seems determined to use the bombs putting his personal interest and ambition above the love he has for Ukrainians.
