Says he SAVED the LA Olympics with the National Guard!

Admin I Thursday, Feb.05.26

PRESIDENT Donald Trump has tipped a “dream team” of JD Vance and Marco Rubio to keep the White House in 2028—declaring the duo would be “very hard to be beaten.”

In an explosive sit-down with NBC, the 47th President threw his weight behind a potential “MAGA” ticket featuring his Vice President and his Secretary of State.

”The combination of JD and Marco would be very hard to be beaten,” Trump told anchor Tom Llamas. “They’re both very capable… but you never know in politics, right?”

The President didn’t just look to the future; he took a victory lap over the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

In a classic “only I can fix it” moment, Trump claimed he rescued the Games from certain doom by deploying the National Guard to the city following a wave of anti-ICE protests and civil unrest last year.

”I saved Los Angeles,” Trump declared. “If I didn’t go in there with the National Guard—with troops—you wouldn’t have the Olympics in Los Angeles.”

He took a swipe at local leaders, insisting that without his “strength,” the International Olympic Committee would have pulled the plug on the California city.

Turning to his signature issue of immigration, the President revealed he is eyeing FIVE secret target cities for major ICE enforcement moves.

But in a surprising twist, the man famous for “Build the Wall” suggested he’s looking for a “softer touch” and wants to be invited in by local authorities rather than launching a federal “invasion.”

”I don’t want to go and force ourselves into a city,” Trump said, before teasing the public: “Can you guess what five cities?”

Despite backing a Vance-Rubio ticket, the President couldn’t resist a cheeky wink at the idea of staying in power himself.

When asked if he’d ever actually let his proteges take the wheel, or if he’d seek an unconstitutional third term, he replied with a grin: “In the age of Trump, you never know.”
Background to the Story

The interview comes at a pivotal moment in the 2026 political calendar.

With midterm elections looming and the 2028 succession battle already bubbling under the surface, Trump is effectively acting as the GOP’s kingmaker—or its permanent king.

The 2028 Ticket: JD Vance (VP) and Marco Rubio (Secretary of State) represent the two pillars of the current administration—Rubio providing the “diplomatic” polish and Vance the populist “MAGA” fire.

The LA Crisis: Last summer, Trump’s decision to send National Guard troops into Los Angeles to protect federal agents during immigration raids sparked a massive legal and political firestorm with Governor Gavin Newsom.

The “Softer” ICE: After intense backlash in states like Minnesota, the administration is pivoting toward a strategy of “invitational” enforcement, pressuring “Sanctuary Cities” to cooperate rather than face unilateral federal deployments.
