MAIDUGURI, Borno, Nigeria – There was a mild drama in Belbelo community, Maiduguri, Borno State when a trained dog stopped a teenage suicide bomber from detonating his explosives at a wedding ceremony.
The dog attacked the bomber as she was making her way into the venue of the ceremony. We gathered that though those at the gathering escaped unhurt, the dog and the suicide bomber died when the bomb exploded.
Spokesperson of the Nigerian Police Force in Borno State, Victor Isuku, said the incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. at Belbelo community of Jere LGA in Borno State and that the dog belongs to a resident in the neighborhood where the wedding was taking place.
